Mack MSVS SMP '2017–02.2020 Produced in 1587 copies

The MSVS SMP (Medium Support Vehicle System Standard Military Pattern) contract was awarded on June 11, 2015 to Mack Defense, who provided trucks based on the Renault Kerax (Mack is a subsidiary of the Volvo Group, which also owns Renault Trucks). They feature four driven axles with a two-speed ZF VG2000-300 transfer case for eight-wheel drive. The MSVS SMP has both armored and unarmored cab variants and five main configurations:

  • 603 Troop Carrying Cargo (TCV);
  • 50 Material Handling Crane (MHC);
  • 37 Gun Tractor (GT) – Two percent of the fleet, this variant is also similar to the MHC. It is configured with the cabling necessary to attach an artillery computer when the M777 is under tow;
  • 742 Load Handling System (LHS);
  • 155 Mobile Repair Team (MRT).

On December 4, 2019, the 1,587th and last Medium Support Vehicle System (MSVS) truck was completed on the production lines in Marolles-en-Hurepoix. It was then shipped to Canada for final integration. On February 13th, 2020, Mack Defense handed it to the Canadian Army's officials in Saint Nicolas, Quebec, thus concluding a three-year industrial adventure which had started in France.
