Norfolk-based PMC Harvesters has introduced the new 989 self-propelled pea harvester.

The 989 has a load-sensing hydraulic system. All variable-speed circuits have axial piston pumps to match flow to circuit requirements, which gives a power saving compared to gear pumps.

The New 989 has been designed to give outstanding yield and reliability on all terrains and difficult conditions. The large-capacity, high-tipping hopper means reduced off-loading time and increased transport efficiency.

The harvester features the latest Claas Vista cab and offers improved operator controls coupled with the next generation of PMC’s Harvest Vision System.

Larger front- and middle-axle agricultural tyres, combined with front- and rear-wheel steering, have improved manoeuvrability and help minimise soil compaction.

The new 989 is a little more than 12m long and weighs 27,560kg. It is powered by a 400hp Deutz engine fuelled from a 1,000-litre diesel tank.

The harvester has a pea hopper volume of 3.1 cubic metres that holds about 1,900kg of crop.
