Isuzu UTE's limited-edition D-MAX X-Runner package is back in Australia, this time with the all-new range that hit Australia last year.

Last offered in 2011 with the previous model D-MAX, the new 4x4 LS-U X-Runner continues the theme with a white metallic pearl paint job.

Other features include a three-piece hard tonneau cover, a black sports bar, tub liner, carper mats and X-Runner graphics.

Priced at $46,990 drive-away, Isuzu says the X-Runner package represents $4500 in added value. The X-Runner is also covered by Isuzu's "Bumper to Bumper" warranty and five-year Roadside Assistance program.

Availability of the X-Runner comes as Isuzu launches its annual Max Run Challenge, inviting the public to guess how many kilometres a D-Max will travel on one tank of diesel.

This year, team driver Bruce Garland and co-pilot Harry Suzuki will take an automatic 4x2 LS Crew Cab Ute from South East Queensland through the state's South West - or as far as they can get.

The D-MAX’s previous fuel economy record was set in 2009, when a D-MAX 4x2 Crew Cab Ute Low Ride manual travelled 1716.3km from Far North Queensland into South Australia, on just one tank of diesel.

The trek included 175kms across harsh outback surfaces, at an average fuel consumption of just 4.428 litres/100km.

Isuzu UTE Australia has announced the new limited edition D-MAX X-Runner ute, which adds around $4500 worth of extras and was designed to promote the company’s annual Max Run Challenge.

Based on an Isuzu D-MAX 4×4 LS-U ($45,500 plus ORC), the X-Runner ute will be limited to roughly 150 units or about three vehicles per dealer. It fetches $46,990 drive-away, creating savings by eliminating on-road costs and adding a three-piece hard tonneau cover, tub liner, black sports bar, carpet mats and X-Runner decals.
