IFA F8 по сути является послевоенной реинкарнацией DKW F8. После окончания Второй Мировой войны г. Цвиккау, где производился DKW, оказался под советским контролем. В дополнение к седану и кабриолету, был налажен выпуск универсала и развозных фургонов.
