Первая партия автомобилей была выпущена в количестве 518 экземпляров. Позднее было принято решение выпустить ещё приблизительно 1250 автомобилей. Из-за нехватки комплектующих сверхплановые автомобили были оснащены салоном ВАЗ-2101 и получили наименование ВАЗ-2103В (временный).
