Команда Campos Meta была основана Адрианом Кампосом в конце 2009 года. В начале 2010 года была выкуплена испанским предпринимателем Хосе Рамоном Карабанте и дебютировала в Формуле 1 под названием Hispania Racing Team. 4 июля 2011 года у команды вновь сменился владелец: контрольный пакет акций приобрел испанский инвестиционный фонд Thesan Capital.
