Компания Gonow была основана 27 сентября 2003 года в китайском городе Тайчжоу. 26 апреля 2010 года компания Guangzhou Automobile подписала контракт о покупке Gonow Auto. 9 декабря 2010 года компании Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC Group) и Zhejiang Gonow Group Co., Ltd. (Gonow Group) основали объединённое предприятие GAC Gonow Auto Co., Ltd. В 2016 году Gonow Group окончательно слилась с GAC Group.
