В 1932 году Speedster был оснащен V-образным 12-цилиндровым двигателем Лайкоминг с объемом цилиндров 6417 см3 и мощностью 160 л.с. Автомобиль достигал максимальной скорости 188 километров в час. Впервые на американском рынке появился двенадцатицилиндровый автомобиль стоимостью менее 1000 долларов. Auburn V12 Speedster модель «12-160» продержалась в производстве 2 года, после чего на смену ей пришел один из самых красивых спидстеров — Auburn 851, а двенадцатицилиндровые двигатели выпускали еще несколько лет, устанавливая на пожарные машины American LaFrance.
