The Irish bus builder Wright Group, based in Ballymena, has booked an order for 50 Streetcar RTV vehicles which will go into operation on the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada's ACE Downtown Connector service. The order has a value of $55m, the vehicles have been specially adapted to the client’s needs.

The new vehicle is a development of the company's original StreetCar concept launched in the UK in 2005, with a specification customised by RTC. The vehicle with a capacity of 104 passengers is powered by a Siemens (ISE) Electric Hybrid Drive System incorporating a Cummins ISL engine and featuring water cooled nickel metal hydride batteries. A first for transit buses is the inclusion of permanent magnetic technology to increase the efficiency of the electric motor. Interior features of the vehicle include Carrier Avantec modular air conditioning, three wide doors, a sealed drivers compartment, integrated telematics and Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI), as well as Wi-Fi access and ambient lighting. There are two wheelchair positions, as well as three interior bike racks. The 44-seater bus has a panic button safety feature, as well as live video feed from CCTV cameras capable of relaying footage back to the depot or the Local Police Department.
