В 1986 году инженерами компании Caterpillar был создан трактор на гусеничном ходу Challenger 65. В том же году бренд Challenger стал самостоятельной торговой маркой. В 2002 году AGCO Corporation выкупила права на имя Challenger и гусеничные трактора Caterpillar Corporation.
