26 марта 1903 года Гораций Томас (Horace T. Thomas) установил на данном автомобиле рекорд скорости - 87,516 км/ч (54,38 миль/ч) в классе бензиновых двигателей весом 1000 фунтов. По сути, Pirate был урезанной версией Olds Curved Dash Runabout, самого продаваемого автомобиля в Америке. Благодаря длинным полуэллиптическим рессорам, образующим продольные балки рамы, топливный и масляный баки приобрели форму пули.
