In late 1950 Caterpillar introduced the DW20 and DW21 self-propelled scrapers. The DW20 had a two-axle tractor configuration, and the DW21 used a single-axle tractor design. They were first publicly unveiled at the construction equipment Road Show, held in Chicago, Illinois, in August 1948.
