В июле 1993 г. на заводе ПАЗ по заказу завода ГАЗ был изготовлен один опытный образец автомобиля скорой медицинской помощи ГАЗ-27051 «ГАЗель». АСМП имел каркасно-панельный кузов, базировавшийся на шасси ГАЗ-3302 третьей опытной серии. В ноябре 1993 г. опытный образец ГАЗ-27051 был доработан и переименован в ГАЗ-27053.
