Munich (Germany), 8. April 2019 – With a strong expertise in electrical machines, Liebherr presents a duo of machines fitted to meet the requirements of the mines of the future at Bauma 2019: the R 9200 E and the T 236. When working together, the R 9200 E and T 236 reduce the environmental footprint of any mining operation. The R 9200 E in face shovel configuration can easily fill a T 236 in five passes, a perfect combination for scalable productivity.

The R 9200 E has been designed to fully support the requirements of the mining industry. With a rated output of 850kW (1,139HP), the electric 210-tonne R 9200 E balances performance with environmental consciousness.

The Lausitzer Grauwacke mine is located in Lieske in the Northeast of Germany, approximately 70 km north of Dresden. Since 2010, it’s part of the EUROVIA group. The extracted greywacke is a hard sandstone, very resistant to frost that is crushed and mostly used in mineral mixtures, for highway, railway and port constructions. This specific mine is one of a few certified suppliers for highspeed rail track ballast.

Eurovia and Lausitzer Grauwacke strive for continuous improvement to build a sustainable future by making a step towards greener mining. It was an easy choice to replace an existing diesel excavator with an electric Liebherr R 9200 E – now the biggest excavator in Eurovia’s fleet (350 sites).

Fitted with a 12.5 m³ (16.4 yd³) heavy duty face shovel and patented Liebherr GET to load material with a loose density of 1.65 t/m³ (2.8 lb/yd³), the R 9200 E efficiently loads 65-tonne dump trucks in three passes and achieves great cycle times – the fastest measured at less than 20 seconds.
