В Кольмаре производятся машины экстремальных размеров. Крупнейшим экскаватором в производственной программе Liebherr-Mining Equipment Colmar SAS является R 9800. Этот гигант высотой 11 метров и весом 800 тонн почти в три раза тяжелее авиалайнера Airbus A380. Как и другие горные машины, произведённые в Кольмаре, экскаваторы R 9800 задействуются в экстремальных условиях на карьерах по всему миру для золота, платины, угля и множества других полезных ископаемых.
