Леон Серполле стал первым водителем неэлектрического автомобиля, который установил рекорд скорости на суше. Его паровой автомобиль овальной формы Œuf de Pâques (Пасхальное яйцо) достиг скорости 120.8 км/ч (75.06 миль/ч) на Английской набережной в Ницце, Франция, 13 апреля 1902 года, превзойдя рекорд 1899 года, установленный на автомобиле Камиля Женаци La Jamais Contente.
