1999 г. - на выставке Токио Мотор Шоу представлен прототип модели Yamaha MT-01.

2005 г. - официальное начало производства и продаж Yamaha MT-01.

2007 г. - небольшое обновление модели. Мотоцикл получает новые передние 6-поршневые тормоза на 310-мм тормозных дисках, новый дизайн переднего крыла, улучшенное сиденье и новые зеркала.

2012 г. - модель Yamaha MT-01 окончательно снимается с производства и прекращает свои продажи.
