В 1976 г. компания возродила идею дешевого пожарного автомобиля, впервые примененную в модели Pioneer. Новый грузовик получил название Spartan I. Идентичный внешне модели Pioneer III, Spartan I был построен на шасси Chevrolet Forward-Control и использовал кабину компании TCM. Стандартным двигателем для него стал Chevrolet V8 объемом 7 л. Для того, чтобы сохранить низкий уровень цен, Spartan I выпускались в небольших количествах с ограниченным набором опций.
