On August 18, 2020, Avinor Oslo Airport became the very first airport in the Nordic region to use electric buses to carry passengers between gates and planes.

In June 2018, Avinor Oslo Airport was granted 16 MNOK in ENOVA support to procure eight electric shuttle buses. Today, the eight buses were taken into use, which was duly marked by driving the electric buses in a convoy from Helsfyr Station (located around 45 km away) to Oslo Airport. The event continued with the official handing over of keys and speeches from Avinor, suppliers and partners.

The Dutch company VDL Bus & Coach has delivered the buses, and charging infrastructure has been provided by the Dutch company Heliox. The new buses have a future-oriented design and are 18 meters long.
