Takeuchi­-US recently introduced the first vertical-lift model in its compact track loader lineup, the TL12V2, which, says the company, is the largest vertical-lift machine in the industry. With a rated operating capacity of 4,107 pounds (SAE J818 standard 35 percent of tipping load) and 5,868 pounds at 50 percent of tipping load, the TL12V2, according to Takeuchi, delivers 45 percent greater operating capacity, compared with the current TL12 radial-lift model. In addition, says the company, the vertical-lift-arm design provides more reach, increased lift height, and greater stability.

The new track loader uses a Kubota V3800-TIF4B 3.8-liter diesel engine, developing 111.3 horsepower and 284 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine meets Tier 4-Final emissions standards with a diesel oxidation catalyst, diesel particulate filter, and selective-catalytic-reduction system. Takeuchi estimates fuel consumption at 3.8 gallons/hour operating at 65 percent of full load.

The TL12V2’s pilot-controlled, proportional hydraulic system, featuring Takeuchi’s Automatic Power Control design, produces a 23.2-gpm standard flow at a relief pressure of 3,481 psi. The new model also is available with two auxiliary-hydraulic systems, a 40.4-gpm high-flow system and a second-circuit system rated at 23.2 gpm.

The machine features cushioned boom cylinders, and maximum lift height under the bucket pin is 10 feet 10 inches; dump height at full raise is 8 feet 1 inch. Maximum reach at full raise is just slightly more than 3 feet, and the linkage is self-leveling during lifting. A lower cross member between the lift arms affords greater visibility, says Takeuchi, and the design of the rear cross member provides optimum visibility to the rear.

A mechanical quick coupler is standard equipment; an optional hydraulically actuated coupler is available. The TL12V2 is available with a range of 80- and 84-inch dirt buckets, as well as a six-way dozer blade and heavy-duty, 48-inch pallet forks.

According to Takeuchi, the TL12V2 features a 17.7-inch-wide “quiet-track” design with a new tread pattern for reduced noise and vibration. The tread pattern, says the company, produces greater flotation and minimizes ground disturbance; in addition, a new contact pad between the roller and track is designed to enhance ride quality, which is further complemented, says the company, by a lengthened undercarriage. The hydrostatic drive system powers double-reduction final drives, and the two-speed drive system provides speeds to 7.8 mph.

The tilt-up operator’s station, featuring a ROPS/FOPS design, has been completely redesigned, says the company, with a wider cabin, new 5.7­-inch color monitor, high-back suspension seat, rear-pivoting seat bar with armrests, and retractable seat belt. A pressurized cab with roll-up door is available, as are a heating/air-conditioning/defrosting system, wipers, AM/FM/Mp3 radio with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) weather band. The TL12V2 has a two-year/2,000-­hour warranty.
