Kehl, 15th of January 2021

Due to the high demand, the new "Copa" model will be built in Wissembourg from now on - a versatile and everyday compact van based on the Ford Transit Custom.

Kehl. From January 19, 2021, series production of leisure vehicles will start again on line 5 in the Alsatian Bürstner plant in Wissembourg. After an eight-year break in production, the tradition of building motorhomes is being continued. In the meantime, the plant had specialized in furniture construction for production at the headquarters in Kehl. Due to the high demand, the new "Copa" model will be built in Wissembourg from now on - a versatile and everyday compact van based on the Ford Transit Custom.

"In 2014, the motorhome assembly facilities in Wissembourg were completely dismantled and the building was optimized for furniture construction and storage. We converted the hall again for vehicle production within a very short time," says Michel Baumann, Bürstner Plant Manager in Wissembourg.

On January 15, 2021, the trio of managing directors Jens Kromer, Olaf Sackers and Alexander Kasteleiner, together with Michel Baumann, welcomed a selected number of guests and local press representatives for the ceremonial opening of line 5.

The Wissembourg location has been producing Bürstner leisure vehicles, both caravans and motorhomes, since 1974.
