Автомобиль предназначался для монтажа автоматического гранатомёта Mk 19 Mod 3, пулемётов M2 калибра .50 (12,7 мм) и пулемётов M60 и M240 калибра .300 (7,62 мм). От модели M1043 отличался наличием лебедки. После модернизации в 1989 году автомобиль получил индекс M1044A1.
