Launch of the 3 Yutong E9 Hereford Zipper Buses

24/11/2023

The new environmentally friendly bus service will begin tomorrow providing free journeys for residents and visitors. The project has been funded by the Government’s Towns Fund. The aim is to cut the number of people driving in the city centre by providing a free convenient bus service from the main transport hubs into the centre of town.

The three free buses celebrate Herefordshire’s heritage. Each bus has been named after Herefordshire products – Handsome Norman (cider apples), Green Horse (Perry pears) and Pilot (hops). The seats have been upholstered in bespoke printed Camira fabric featuring each product and look absolutely fantastic.

The 8.94-metre vehicles are packed with features including the Yutong YESS battery safety system, full air conditioning, camera monitoring systems, passenger counting systems, and McKenna passenger information screens.

These zero-emission buses are the fourth, fifth, and sixth E9s provided by Pelican Bus and Coach to enter service in the UK.
