Napier-Railton Special '1933

The Napier-Railton is an aero-engined race car built in 1933, designed by Reid Railton to a commission by John Cobb, and built by Thomson & Taylor. It was driven by Cobb, mainly at the Brooklands race track where it holds the all-time lap record (143.44 mph (230.84 km/h)) which was set in 1935. Between 1933 and 1937, the Napier-Railton broke 47 world speed records at Brooklands, Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry and Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

Этот авто является оригинальным Napier-Railton Special 1934 года, который благодаря своему почти 24-х литровому Napier-Lion XIA W12 двигателю мог развивать скорость ~273.6 kph (170 mph).

Napier-Lion XIA W12 - это модификация авиационного двигателя, которая в автомобильном варианте имела мощность 402.7 kw ( 540 bhp) / 2350 об/мин. Судя по конструкции двигателя (DOHC, 4 клапана на цилиндр и др.), можно предположить, что эта мощность не была предельной.
