The machine is powered by four maintenance-free lithium-ion batteries with a system voltage of 48 V and a total capacity of 22 kWh. The battery pack drives two highly efficient electric motors (one for traction, one for the hydraulic services) giving the operator the control and manoeuvrability expected from a Thwaites dumper.

The Thwaites electric wheel dumper with 180° rotatable high dump bucket (Hi-Swivel) is designed with performance, safety and the environment in mind. Charging is possible via a standard 230 V socket or with an external fast charger, ensuring maximum flexibility on the construction site.

Each dumper is equipped as standard with:

  • SAHR handbrake (spring-assisted with hydraulic release);
  • ROPS safety roll bar;
  • Tow bar;
  • LED beacon;
  • Full LED Road lighting including daytime running lights;
  • Acoustic reversing alarm.

24 March 2025

At Bauma 2025 Thwaites will be showing a selection of six machine solutions.

Visitors to the Thwaites stand will get their first look at three debuting dumpers.

Taking centre stage will be:

1) Electric 2-tonne Hi-Swivel

2) 6-tonne ROPS+ Power Swivel

3) 9-tonne ‘Rotator’

In addition to the Thwaites ‘staples’ of:

T450 power swivel

1.5-tonne power swivel

1-tonne Hi-Tip

Launching later this summer the 2-tonne electric dumper will join the 3-tonne machine to create a range of compact, eco-alternative powered machines.

The machine is driven by a 22-kWh maintenance free, long life, lithium-ion (dry cell) battery pack operating at 48V.

The electric drive dumper has a similar unladen weight when compared to the diesel/hydrostatic version. The main battery pack and driveline components, now sit low in the rear chassis, lowering the centre of gravity when compared to the hydrostatic drive machine, further improving machine stability.

Critically, the battery pack will complete a full 8-hour working day from a single charge.

The standard on-board 3kW battery charger can charge the pack from 0-100% in 8hrs (three phase). Optional fast charger will charge the machine from 20 to 80 % in less than 50 minutes.
