В ноябре - декабре 1984 года автобусы ПАЗ-3205 впервые появились в документации завода как серийная продукция: до конца года успели собрать 5 машин. До конца 1980-х гг. ПАЗ-3205 собирали мелкими партиями или по индивидуальным заказам. 1 декабря 1989 года ПАЗ-3205 сменил на главном конвейере завода ПАЗ-672М.
